One Year of the Dey Lab

Happy birthday Dey lab!

The first Dey Lab live microscopy.

It feels like it was yesterday when we all met for the first time face to face. Benches and desks were empty but we were eager to start. It did not take long before we woke up the first strains and started experimenting with the microscopes in the ALMF. Soon the benches were filled with experiments, and the desks were taken by students and postdocs.
Jokes started flying around and a great atmosphere full of friendship and scientific support came to be.
EMBL Heidelberg welcomed us with open arms. From our neighbouring groups in the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit to all the services and support teams, everyone has been very helpful and kind to us.

A great environment to set free our creative spirit into the EMBL world: after our Lab day video, Alice’s group poster (try to find it on the website!) and the special holiday cards everyone at EMBL knows who we are - for better or worse!

Also scientifically, things are moving, and we’re excited about how much progress we’ve made in our first year. We expect to share some of our results with you soon!

A great first year that none of us will ever forget. Thank you all for taking part in this wonderful adventure!
